A very flexible 6 day course in the Alps introducing you to the skills required to get up some great routes and summits. Ratio of 1:4
An example program;
Fly to Geneva, use public transport to get to Chamonix, France. Stay in anything from a posh hotel, to a bunkhouse…your choice! We can help with advice here, and coordinate your arrangements. Meet the evening of your arrival, check your equipment and make a plan fitting with weather forecasts etc.
Hire any necessary equipment. Use Montenvers train to get to Mer de Glace Glacier to learn about the alpine environment, cramponing, use of ice axe, some roped climbing, how to rope for glacier travel, and basics of crevasse rescue. Return to valley accommodation.
Use Charamillon chairlift to gain height then walk in to the Albert Premiere hut above the Tour Glacier, positioning us for an Alpine ascent the following day, and learning about the alpine hut system.
Early start, and make an ascent of the Tete Blanche 3429m and make the glacier journey through the Col Superior du Tour, to the Trient Hut to spend the night.
Early start, and make an ascent of the Aiguille du Tour 3544m which has some very easy rock scrambling after the glacial approach. Return through the Col Superior du Tour and down to Le Tour in the Chamonix valley.
Drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Italy. Walk into the Vittorio Emmanuel hut in the Gran Paradiso National Park. Drink some very good Italian coffee (or wine as you prefer!).
Early start, ascend the Gran Paradiso 4062m. A beautiful summit with amazing views across Italy and up toward Mont Blanc to the north. Your first 4000m peak! Return to the valley, and drive back to Chamonix for an evening meal.
Public transport to Geneva airport.
